What is Warfleets: FTL about?
Game Overview
Rounds, Phases, Turns & Activations
A game is structured into game rounds, ship class phases, player turns and model activations.
• Rounds: Each round is made up of multiple phases.
• Phases: Each phase is made up of multiple turns.
• Turns: Each turn is made up of a single activation.
• Activations: Each activation is made up of an action.
Game Structure
In the first round, both players deploy their fleets, and the initiative player takes the first turn for the first phase (and for all subsequent phases).
Each round comprises four phases.
All models of that type must be activated, before passing to the next phase and played in this order:
1. Squadrons Phase
2. Light Ships Phase
3. Medium Ships Phase
4. Heavy Ships Phase
Players choose a model of the current phase’s type that hasn’t been activated yet, and then activate it by performing an action.
As soon as the action has been taken, the turn of the opposing player begins. At this point, the phase ends and the next one begins (starting with the initiative player for the round again).
Round ends once all four phases are played. The next round begins.
Every new round, the player who did not have the initiative in the previous round becomes the initiative player.
The game ends after four rounds have been played, and the players determine who won the game by checking if they completed their mission.
