Goal of I Should Have Known That!
- Score more points than other players by answering trivia questions correctly.
I Should Have Known That! Setup
- Choose to play individually or in teams (teams of three or fewer recommended).
- Select one player to keep score.
- Shuffle the cards and place them question side up on the table.
- The scorekeeper starts by reading a card; this role rotates among players.
I Should Have Known That! Gameplay
- Game is played in rounds.
- Each round: current reader takes the top card and reads questions without showing answers.
- Reader asks the first question to the player/team on their left.
- Player/team can answer or pass.
- Incorrect answers lose points equal to the number printed below the answer.
- Official rules do not specify if points are gained for correct answers.
- Reader then asks the next question to the next player/team in a clockwise direction.
- Continue until all questions on the card are asked.
- Next player becomes the reader and draws a new card for the next round.
End of Game
- Choose end game conditions:
- Stop playing when players are tired.
- Play for a set amount of time.
- End game when a player/team reaches a certain amount of points.
- Compare scores to determine the winner:
- Lowest score (highest negative number) loses.
- Highest score (least negative points) wins.
Variant Game
- Decide before playing if you want to use variant rules.
- Instead of asking one player/team, all players (except the reader) answer each question.
- Each player/team writes answers on paper.
- Players/teams with wrong answers lose points as printed on the card.
