1st Expansion: Duchy Boards (11-18)

  • Setup:
    • Each player receives one random duchy board numbered 11-18.
  • Optional Rules:
    • Tiles must be placed next to at least one previously placed tile.
    • New hex tiles must be adjacent to a castle or connected by tiles of the same color to a castle.
    • New castles can be placed as usual.
    • For 5 victory points and both die actions, a player can retrieve an unclaimed/purchased castle tile and place it in storage.

2nd Expansion: Additional Hex Tiles

Additional Hex Tiles
  • Monastery Tiles:
    • Turn Order Track (#27): Your marker is always placed on top if in a stack with other markers.
    • Workers (#28): Buy 2 workers for 1 silver coin anytime.
  • Building Tile:
    • Crane (Black): Trigger the effect of any building tile when placed. Counts as a building of your choice during final scoring.
  • Livestock Tile:
    • Geese (Black): Score 2 points plus points for another livestock type in the same pasture. Counts as an additional type for monastery tiles #7 and #24.

4th Expansion: Border Post Duchy Boards (23-30)

Place bonus tile
  • Setup:
    • Place the border post bonus tile on the board.
    • Each player receives a random duchy board numbered 23-30.
  • Gameplay:
    • Connect two border posts to score victory points based on the current phase.
    • First and second players to connect all three border posts get the corresponding bonus tile and score 5/6/7 and 2/3/4 points respectively.

5th Expansion: The White Castles

  • Setup:
    • Mix the white castle tiles into their respective supplies.
  • Gameplay:
    • Place a white castle to take an action using the current result of the white die (can use workers to change the rolled number).

6th Expansion: The Inns

Inns in the Castle of Burgundy
  • Setup:
    • At the beginning of each phase, place an inn next to the central black depot.
  • Gameplay:
    • Inns are not removed at the end of each phase.
    • Buy inns for 2 silver coins and place them on a key space.
    • Inns can be placed on any empty hex space but only one per color area. Inns increase the area size by 1.

8th Expansion: The Trade Routes

  • Setup:
    • Each player receives trade route tiles (4 players: 3 tiles; 3 players: 4 tiles; 2 players: 5 tiles).
    • Place the tiles in a random order below your player board.
  • Gameplay:
    • Place sold goods on trade route spaces to gain bonuses if the number matches the trade route space.

9th Expansion: The Team Game

  • Setup:
    • Form teams of 2 players.
    • Teams receive combined resources and team boards.
    • Place turn order markers for round 1 as A1, B1, A2, B2.
  • Gameplay:
    • Use base game rules with shared resources and storage spaces.
    • Players cannot use each other’s private hex tiles or dice.
  • Final Scoring:
    • Sum the victory points of both team members. The team with more points wins. Tiebreaker: fewer empty spaces in the duchy.
