What is the goal of Blackjack?

Each player tries to beat the dealer by getting as close to 21.

Card Values

Tens, Kings, Queens, and Jacks are worth 10. Aces are either 1 or 11. Face value is applied to the remaining cards.

Blackjack Setup

There is a dealer who shuffles and deals the cards. Players take a seat at the table.

Players place bets

At the start of each new game, players place their bets in front of them.

Step by Step How to Play Blackjack rules

Dealing of cards

Two cards are dealt to each player, while the dealer is dealt one face-up.

Resolve players with BlackJacks

Blackjack occurs when your first two cards total 21 (an Ace and a 10). Players with Blackjacks win, and the dealer pays their bet.

If you have any other total, choose between ‘draw’ or ‘stand’ when it is your turn.

Dealer’s card

If the Dealer’s first card is an Ace, you may buy “Insurance” by staking up to half of your original bet.

Order of Play

The player on the most right gets to choose first. You choose to ‘Draw’ or Stand’. If you draw, you can keep drawing cards until you’re satisfied. If your total exceeds 21, you BUST and lose immediately. The dealer will be the last to draw.

Double your bet

On any two-card combination, you may “Double” your stake, but you will only receive one more card.

Split your cards

By placing an additional bet equal to your original, you can “Split” any pair. A new card will be dealt to each of your split cards. You receive 1 additional card for each Ace split. A 10/picture card and a split Ace is 21, not Blackjack.

Dealer Draw’s their card

The dealer draws another card for their hand. The dealer must draw until they reach 17 or more.
